Cold Leads vs Lemlist: a CRM with outreach, or an outreach tool with a CRM sync
- Who it is for
- Teams choosing a cold e-mail tool
- The problem
- Lemlist and Cold Leads both send cold e-mail, but they solve different problems: Lemlist is a sales engagement platform for multichannel prospecting that syncs to a CRM, while Cold Leads is the CRM itself, with website enquiries, campaigns and replies in one place.
- The solution
- Compare them on the job you need done. If you need LinkedIn steps, calls, a built-in lead database and warm-up, Lemlist is built for that. If you need to capture enquiries, run personal campaigns from your own mailbox and work every reply in one CRM, Cold Leads is.
- What you get
- A side-by-side view of channels, data, pricing and CRM features, with a setup for teams that use Lemlist for prospecting and Cold Leads for the inbound side.
Addresses, IDs and results in the examples are illustrative. example.com is reserved for documentation, so a real check of these addresses returns invalid.

Where Cold Leads is the better fit
- You want a CRM, not another tool next to one. Contacts, stages, tags, lists, notes, campaigns and the reply chat live in the same workspace.
- Part of your pipeline is inbound. Website forms create contacts with the message and source, marked as inquiry, and can add them to an automatic campaign after a delay you choose.
- Replies matter more than volume. Replies from Gmail, Microsoft 365 or IMAP are synced into one chat per contact, classified, and the first human reply moves the contact to lead.
- You want one flat price. Team is 49 USD a month for up to four seats; Business is 99 USD a month for up to ten seats with the API and MCP server.
Where Lemlist is stronger
- Multichannel prospecting: LinkedIn visits, invitations and messages, SMS and calls in one sequence. Cold Leads sends e-mail only.
- Finding new prospects: Lemlist includes a lead database and finder. Cold Leads has no third-party database of people or companies.
- Deliverability tooling: warm-up is included in Lemlist. Cold Leads has a DNS check (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX and From alignment) but no warm-up.
- Automated follow-up steps, A/B variants and send scheduling inside a sequence. A Cold Leads campaign is one template sent within a daily cap.
Using both
A practical split is Lemlist for outbound prospecting and Cold Leads for inbound enquiries and the replies you want to keep working in a CRM. Anything that can make an HTTP request can create a Cold Leads contact. This request does what a website form does; use it only for people who contacted you, because the contact is saved with consent status inquiry.
curl -X POST https://coldleads.app/api/hooks/lead \

"tag": "demo-request",
"stage": "lead"
}'
# → {"ok":true}For cold prospects from Lemlist or any other source, import a CSV file in Cold Leads instead: imported contacts get the B2B outreach consent status, so inbound enquiries and cold contacts stay apart.
How to decide
- If you need LinkedIn or calls in the same sequence as e-mail, choose Lemlist (Multichannel plan).
- If you need to find new contacts inside the tool, choose Lemlist or another data provider; Cold Leads works on contacts you already have.
- If your main work is handling website enquiries and replies and you want them in a CRM, choose Cold Leads.
- If you run both inbound and outbound at volume, use both and keep consent statuses separate.
FAQ
Does Cold Leads have a lead database like Lemlist?
No. Cold Leads has no third-party database of people or companies. You import your own contacts or collect them through your website; the API's finder only guesses an address from a name and a company domain.
Can Cold Leads warm up my mailbox?
No. It checks your domain's SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX and From alignment and caps sending per day, but it does not include warm-up.
Does Cold Leads send LinkedIn messages?
No. Contacts can store a LinkedIn profile URL, but all outreach is e-mail.
Can I move my Lemlist contacts to Cold Leads?
Yes, as a CSV file: export from Lemlist and import in Cold Leads (Contacts → Import). Imported contacts get the B2B outreach consent status.
